Lauren's New Favorite Activity

Sooo - the second I look away, Miss Lauren crawls as fast as she can towards the bathroom and unrolls the ENTIRE roll of toliet paper and wraps herself in it and giggles nonstop. She thinks she's hilarious. Alex thinks she is funny too and wants to join in the fun sometimes. Here's a picture of their troublemaking. On other fronts, Lauren is so close to walking. She pulls herself up on everything and will walk around the room if you hold onto one of her hands. She has a little walker thing that she pushes around the entire living room floor - she is VERY proud of herself. Of course, Alex hated this thing when he was little, but now that his sister uses it, it's a whole new ballgame.

Spring is Here??

Well, we think spring may finally be here for good. After many weeks of Alex begging to go outside - "Mom, it warm up yet?", we were finally able to go for a walk this week - here's a picture. They love their sunglasses from Nana and Grandpa Vohs. We've all been sick for a couple of weeks so it felt WONDERFUL, probably for mom more than anyone else. Alex keeps wanting to go to the park - in fact, he told me the other day that he wants a slide for his house. I told him that dad doesn't want a slide (which he doesn't) and he exclaimed, "But Lauren wants a slide" as if that would convince his father. So the next time he saw his dad, he runs up and asks, "Dad, I buy a slide please?" His father was almost convinced....

Pool Party!

So this weekend, we took the kids to a local Best Western Inn with friends of ours for a weekend pool party. Us and 3 other couples (9 kids under 3 1/2 years old) all got poolside rooms next to each other and let the kids play, swim, eat (way too many sweets), and have fun. Alex was a total fish. Usually he's terrified of the water, but he had an absolute blast. Here's some pictures from our "fun party" (Alex's terms). You'll notice of the pictures of Alex that he's not wearing swim trunks - only his swim diaper. He wore the trunks the first half of the evening, but then wanted them off because they were wet. Go figure kid - yes, that's our OCD son. So he spent the rest of the night in his swim diaper. Lauren enjoyed swimming too - she was kicking and splashing lots! The kids wore each other out and then slept great while their parents continued a great evening of fun. Alex woke up the next morning and was ready to put his swimsuit back on. We had a great time and can't wait for our next pool party!

Our playdate last week

So, many of you have wondered how I fill my days at home with Alex and Lauren. So I thought I'd shed some light on that. We have ECFE (early childhood family education) classes on Monday morning for Alex and Tuesday morning for Lauren. Then usually at least one or two other mornings, we have playdates with our friends from ECFE or mom's other friends from college. Here's a picture of our playdate last Thursday with our friends from Alex's ECFE class. I got such a kick out of this picture - 10 little ones sitting on the living room floor having a picnic lunch while their moms sat around the kitchen table and enjoyed adult conversation and good food. Alex is the one in the middle with the orange pants. Alex talked the whole way home about how he played with his friends and had so much fun at the "fun party!"
