Lauren had a big week

Lauren had a big week this week. She started crawling this week - YEAH! Took her awhile since her big brother brings her everything she needs, but she finally got the hang out it. She's cruising around now and Alex always exclaims, "Mom, Lauren is crawling." He's so proud of her and he's even been OK about sharing. We'll see how long that lasts. But Lauren is very excited about her new found mobility and she has also learned how to hop (literally) across the floor on her bottom when her hands and knees get tired - she is moving fast!

Also - Lauren started sleeping through the night this week (finally) and she's even been taking better naps this week. Of course as I write this, she is sitting next to me instead of sleeping! But hopefully we are making some progress. Time is moving quickly - hard to believe that she's already 9 1/2 months. She's a lot of fun though and we're enjoying watching the two of them interact!

Alex's funny comments this week

One day this week when we were trying to get out the door, I was getting frustrated with Alex because he was moving SO slow. All of a sudden, he looked at me and said, "Come on Alex, Alex come on." Whoops! Think he's heard me say that way too much?

Yesterday he decided to start calling me "Amy" and he thinks he's hilarious.

Last weekend my sister and I took Alex shopping. We asked him what he wanted for lunch and he responded with "McDonalds." Yuck. Well, I just thought that he'd get over it so we decided to go and get Chinese and asked him if he was excited for Chinese. He let us know that no he was not excited for Chinese and wanted a cheeseburger from McDonalds. It was so funny to hear my 2-year old son be so decisive about his mealtime options. Nonetheless, he got Chinese for lunch. While we were eating lunch, he heard his Aunt Kristin ask me if my food was spicy. Now, every once in awhile, he'll spit out his food, get this funny look on his face and tell his dad and I that his food is "too spicy!"

Alex's Haircut

So we did it. We finally took Alex to get his first haircut of 2008. Yes, I did say his first haircut of the year. He hates them so we try and push it as long as we can in between them. Because they are MISERABLE for mom and Alex! So I told him that we had to go and get his haircut and he then told me that we would go see Santa afterwards. That stumped me a bit and then I realized that his last haircut was right before Xmas and I bribed him with a visit with Santa. Funny how the kid remembers that even though it was months ago. I then explained to him that Santa was in the North Pole making his toys for next year and of course he explained to me that Santa was making cars, trucks, and jeeps. So, I bribed him with the cookies that he made with Nana this week and that seemed to work quite well. He did way better than normal at his haircut. He of course refused to wear the cape so he and I were covered in hair by the time it was over, but worth the sacrafice since he didn't cry at all!! He was so funny - trying to hard to be a "big boy" and not cry though he was close the entire time. I was so proud. He reminded me as soon as they were done that he needed a cookie though. And when we got home - he ran inside and exclaimed to dad just as proud as he could be, "Dad, I got a new haircut!" So cute.

Welcome to our blog!

Per Aunt Betsy's suggestion, I will attempt to do my first blog. I plan on updating this blog at least once/week ( hopefully more) with updates on the kids. We'll put pictures of the kids and videos on it for you to all enjoy. Should be an interesting little experiment, hopefully a successful one. Then you will all be able to stay current on the ever-changing life of the kiddos. Hope you all enjoy!
