Lauren is walking! Alex is potty-trained!

Finally after months of teasing us, Miss Lauren is walking ALL THE TIME! She just does laps around our house and gets so proud of herself! She just walks and walks while laughing outloud - it's too cute. Alex is so excited for her too. He always says, "Mom and Dad, look who's walking!" And he claps and exclaims, "Good job Lauren." When she falls, he runs over and asks, "Lauren, you ok?" So cute - they get along so well. I'll have to remind them of that years from now when they can't stand each other. They really do have a great time together - here's some recent pictures as well. Alex sometimes plays with her and then yells, "Look at us!" He's just itching for us to tell him he's a good big brother. And he's potty-trained, YEAH! He's doing really really well. Pretty much dry all the time with the rare accident happening. And he's even doing his bowel movements in the potty - that was a bit of a struggle. He's very excited and very proud of himself. He always has to tell dad when he does a good job! All in all, it's been a great summer so far - we've been very fortunate. Alex caught his first fish on Father's Day with Drew and Grandpa Vohs - as soon as I get the pictures i'll put them up. He was so excited and has actually caught about 6 fish since then - he's a pro! The kids are at such fun ages - it's really a joy to watch them grow together!

Alex and his BIG machines!

We took Alex and Lauren last week over to the local library as they were having a display of the city's "big" machines. Needless to say, Alex was in heaven! He absolutely loved sitting in the trucks. Lauren pretty much could have cared less, but she did love the John Deere tractor - guess she does have some Iowa blood in her! On a side note, Alex commented when we got to the parking lot - "Mom, Gaga is here!" For those of you who don't know, he calls Grandma O'Brien "Gaga." Drew and I were a little confused and asked him why he thought Gaga was at the library. He calmly looked at us and explained, "Look - there's her car, she IS here!" Sure enough, we had parked right next to a light tan Toyota Camry (which my mom drives). Wow - can you say he really pays attention to the details? Smart kid!
